The New York Times will unveil its list of the 100 Best TV Shows of the 21st Century starting Sept. 21, revealing 20 shows daily through Sept. 25. The rankings were determined by votes from more than 500 television professionals in Hollywood and around the world, including show creators, actors, writers, and craftspeople. Participants selected the 10 best shows premiering since Jan. 1, 2000, defining "best" by their own criteria such as favorites, most rewatched, or most artistically ambitious.

The results contain surprises even for the editors. Readers can sign up for the Watching newsletter to receive daily updates on each installment, culminating in the reveal of the No. 1 show. Existing subscribers will automatically receive the updates.
