Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents fatally shot a man in Biddeford, Maine, identified as Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 26-year-old Colombian national.

The incident occurred Monday morning when agents attempted a vehicle stop. According to ICE, Durán Guerrero's vehicle attempted to flee, prompting an agent to discharge their weapon. Durán Guerrero sustained injuries and later died. DHS, which oversees ICE, stated he was an "illegal alien with a final order of removal," though his immigration status was not explicitly detailed.

Immigrant rights activists claim Durán Guerrero was married, had a child, and possessed a social security number, authorized to work in the U.S. Surveillance footage reportedly shows agents ramming Durán Guerrero's car before surrounding it. Witnesses described the scene, with one noting Durán Guerrero's daughter was present.

This marks the 11th person fatally shot by federal immigration officials since Donald Trump took office in 2025, and the fifth killed during a vehicle incident. The Department of Homeland Security's office of inspector general is investigating. Colombia's president, Gustavo Petro, called the event an "assassination."
