European Jewish Sites Targeted in Suspected Iran-Backed Attacks

A string of attacks on Jewish institutions across Europe has investigators probing potential Iranian involvement, following a previously unknown Islamist group's claims of responsibility. The violence, which includes arson on ambulances in London's Golders Green neighborhood and a burned car in Antwerp's Jewish quarter, has left Jewish communities on edge. Two suspects were arrested in Antwerp after the latest incident.

Investigators are examining whether the Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya group is a genuine entity or a front for Iranian proxies. The timing of attacks—coinciding with the recent US-Iran conflict—and the group's use of symbols similar to Kataib Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps raise suspicions. The group's Telegram channels show pro-Iranian affiliations with nearly 2 million combined followers.

Targets have included Jewish schools, American bank properties, and ambulances operated by Jewish charities in London, Belgium, and the Netherlands. While no injuries have occurred, the property damage has intensified fears among European Jewish communities already experiencing heightened antisemitism. US intelligence officials are investigating whether the attacks are orchestrated operations or inspired actions, noting the unusual focus on property rather than people.
