The fatal shooting of a man by ICE agents in Biddeford on Monday has become a flashpoint in Maine’s Senate race. Four Democratic front‑runners joined hundreds of protesters at the scene, chanting "Abolish ICE" anduliwa.

Nirav Shah, former director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told Fox News Digital that ICE "has shown itself incapable of doing its job." Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and former state Senate president Troy Jackson also spoke out, calling for the agency’s dismantling.

The incident follows a week of deadly force by ICE, including a fatal Houston traffic‑stop shooting. The Maine attorney general’s office, along with the FBI, is investigating the Biddeford case, while the Department of Homeland Security’s Markwayne Mullin confirmed the Boston office of the DHS Inspector General is leading the inquiry.

The tragedy comes amid the fallout from former candidate Graham Platner abandoning the race over scandal, raising the stakes in the contest between Republican Sen. Susan Collins and the Democrats for a seat that could decide the Senate majority.
