Attorney General Todd Blanche declined to commit to always acting independently of the White House during a "Meet the Press" interview, stating "no attorney general should ever pledge that." The former personal defense attorney for Donald Trump, confirmed by the Senate last weekend, insisted Trump has never asked him to cross legal or ethical lines and that the Justice Department will "prosecute without fear or any sort of favor."

Blanche acknowledged he would take the president's views into consideration on individual prosecutions, saying "every American has a voice." He defended DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro amid Trump's frustration over the dismissed Reflecting Pool vandalism case, calling her performance "phenomenal." The department faces criticism over actions against perceived Trump enemies like former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

On election integrity, Blanche said appealing court losses over voter roll access to the Supreme Court is a "possibility." He declared Trump's "anti-weaponization" fund "dead" but noted existing processes for government wrongdoing claims, declining to rule out compensation for January 6, 2021 rioters. The fund was formally rescinded after threatening Blanche's confirmation.
