Webull CEO: Retail Traders Embrace Volatility, Seek Tactical Gains

Webull's U.S. CEO Anthony Denier reports that retail investors are becoming more tactical rather than cautious amid 2026 market swings. In an interview with Investing.com, Denier noted that periods of volatility are driving increased engagement rather than retreat, with traders viewing market turbulence as opportunity rather than threat.

Denier emphasized that today's retail investors are more informed and tools-driven, using data, options strategies, and extended-hours access to manage exposure actively. The company has observed heightened activity in AI-linked equities, semiconductors, and broader tech sectors tied to structural growth themes. ETFs remain popular as investors seek diversified exposure during uncertain macroeconomic conditions.

Webull recently launched a consolidated overnight market data feed, reflecting growing demand for 24/5 trading access. Denier noted that users increasingly rely on overnight sessions to respond to global news and earnings announcements outside standard trading hours. The Asia-Pacific region, particularly Hong Kong and Thailand, shows strong interest in U.S. overnight trading, though U.S.-based traders, especially on the West Coast, are also turning to extended hours to adjust positions more frequently.
