The Pentagon launched Operation Epic Fury, a massive U.S.-Israel military campaign against Iran that has struck over 1,000 targets since Saturday. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth described it as "the most lethal, most complex and most precise aerial operation in history," involving B-2 bombers, drones, and classified assets. The operation began under direct orders from President Trump and has resulted in four American fatalities.

General Caine detailed the operation's scope, noting U.S. forces flew 37-hour round trips from the continental United States to strike Iranian underground facilities. The campaign targets Iranian offensive missiles, naval forces, and nuclear capabilities. American B-2 bombers conducted strikes across Iran's southern flank while Israel executed hundreds of sorties against hundreds of targets as part of the joint operation.

The military action follows decades of Iranian aggression against American forces and interests, including attacks on U.S. embassies and roadside bombings in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hegseth said Iran had been developing missiles and drones while pursuing nuclear capabilities, despite diplomatic efforts. The operation is not aimed at regime change, though Hegseth acknowledged the Iranian regime has changed as a result of the strikes.
