NCR Voyix CEO James Kelly announced new Voyix Commerce Platform products designed to accelerate the company's shift from legacy hardware to cloud revenue. The rollout at NRF’s Big Show 2026 offers backward compatibility, aiming to move merchants into a cloud-native environment without disruptive overhauls, a key concern for long-term customers.

Kelly positioned the platform as a differentiator against newer cloud-native competitors, leveraging NCR's history as the original architect of many point-of-sale systems. He emphasized that decades of customer data can be seamlessly ported, making upgrades faster and enabling real-time feedback. The company also regained the top spot for new restaurant deployments.

Integrating payments directly into the core system is a central strategy, creating an end-to-end merchant acquirer. With an estimated $1.4 trillion in U.S. commerce volume processed in 2024, this move aims to reduce complexity and create a unified commerce experience. The question for investors is whether this transition can boost margins in a competitive payments landscape.
