MongoDB Stock Downgraded on Atlas Growth Slowdown

Baird downgraded MongoDB to Neutral, citing concerns about slowing Atlas growth and limited AI revenue impact. The brokerage noted that fourth-quarter Atlas revenue grew 29%, missing investor expectations and decelerating from 30% in the prior quarter. While excluding bundling effects would have shown 30% growth, investors had anticipated a fourth consecutive quarter of acceleration.

Baird highlighted management changes as another risk factor, with Chief Revenue Officer Paul Capombassis and President of Field Operations Cedric Pech departing. The firm also pointed to competitive pressures from Postgres offerings by Databricks and Snowflake, warning that competitive concerns may resurface. Although MongoDB's database platform supports generative AI applications, revenue contribution beyond early use cases remains limited.

The brokerage maintained a positive long-term outlook, citing rising remaining performance obligations of $1.47 billion and improving revenue visibility. Baird expects total revenue to grow about 20% or more in fiscal 2027, with adjusted operating margins approaching the company's 20% long-term target. However, the firm trimmed its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast to $2.88 billion while raising adjusted operating income estimates.
