Iran Warns U.S. Over Strikes as Tensions Rise

Iranian officials have issued a stark warning to the United States, threatening retaliation against U.S. military bases and Israeli targets if Washington initiates any strikes. The warning came after reports that the Trump administration is reviewing options for potential military action in response to Iran’s domestic crackdown on protests. Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s parliamentary speaker and a former IRGC commander, said Tehran would also target key shipping lanes in the region.

The U.S. maintains major installations in the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar, which could become flashpoints. Tensions have escalated following U.S. threats to intervene in Iran’s internal affairs. The Wall Street Journal reported that discussions within the U.S. government remain preliminary, with no firm decisions made. President Trump reinforced his stance on social media, saying the U.S. “stands ready to help”.

Iran’s aggressive posturing reflects its willingness to respond forcefully, as seen in last year’s attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. With protest deaths climbing and diplomatic channels strained, the risk of miscalculation grows.
