Floor & Decor Holdings shares surged 7.4% in after-hours trading Thursday after the Atlanta-based flooring retailer reported fourth-quarter earnings that narrowly topped analyst expectations. The company posted diluted earnings per share of $0.36, beating the $0.35 consensus estimate, while total revenue reached $1.13 billion, up 2.0% year-over-year.

Despite the positive earnings surprise, Floor & Decor faced challenges with comparable store sales declining 4.8% during the quarter. CEO Brad Paulsen credited the company's ability to expand market share in a difficult macroeconomic environment for home improvements, noting that eight new warehouse stores opened during the period helped offset weakness in existing locations.

management provided fiscal 2026 guidance of $4.88 billion to $5.03 billion in sales, which includes a 53rd operating week expected to contribute approximately $65 million. Full-year earnings are projected between $1.98 and $2.18 per share. Paulsen characterized the results as demonstrating the resilience of Floor & Decor's business model despite ongoing softness in existing home sales activity.
