ERG Shares Rise on UK Wind Buy, Sweden Sale

ERG shares jumped over 2% after the Italian renewable energy group announced a dual transaction. It acquired 73 megawatts of UK onshore wind assets for £97 million while selling 62 megawatts of Swedish capacity for €71 million. Analysts at Kepler Cheuvreux called the moves accretive to earnings.

The UK purchase, valued at €1.53 million per megawatt, is supported by the Renewable Obligation Certificates scheme. The sale of older Swedish assets, valued higher at €1.15 million per megawatt, will boost net profit. Both portfolios have similar load factors, minimizing operational disruption for the company.

Following the acquisition, the UK becomes ERG's third-largest market, adding to its 412 MW of installed capacity. The broker notes the deals have a limited net impact on ERG’s debt. For investors, the move signals a strategic portfolio shift toward markets with stronger policy support.

What’s next for ERG’s expansion? The company may continue optimizing its asset base, seeking similar high-quality acquisitions in supportive markets while divesting mature holdings. This transaction demonstrates a clear focus on earnings growth and strategic market positioning over sheer capacity growth.
