Chinese developers have secured three of the top five global rankings for agentic AI performance, according to a Jefferies note highlighted by Investing.com. This marks a significant jump from five top-10 models previously, with six now Chinese.

Analyst Edison Lee emphasizes China's rapid catch-up in this fast-moving field, where agents automate workflows and dominate discussions. Alibaba's Qwen remains the leader, bolstered by lower token costs that give Chinese models a competitive edge over U.S. counterparts. Agentic performance gaps between Chinese and U.S. models in the top five are small, ranging from 2% to 12%, suggesting Chinese firms are well-positioned for increased adoption. However, widespread enterprise deployment faces hurdles like reliability issues and uncertain inference costs.
