SpiceJet gained a last-minute reprieve after a settlement with creditor Aviator ML forced India's insolvency tribunal to rehear proceedings involving claims of Rs5bn ($52mn) from eight creditors. The National Company Law Tribunal called the timing "a mockery of the entire system." The airline, once India's second-largest with 20% market share, also faces a UK court order to pay $8mn to lessor Sunbird France 02 SAS. It now struggles to compete with dominant IndiGo and rapidly expanding Akasa Air.

India's food safety regulator has intensified inspections. Maharashtra's FDA suspended licences at several Domino's branches, while Bengaluru inspectors found violations at KFC and premium hotels including Four Seasons, Shangri-La and The Lalit. Authorities banned 10 alcohol brands, including Diageo's United Spirits and Old Monk rum, for using artificial flavouring with less than 5% matured spirit. Pernod Ricard plants are also under scrutiny.

Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff received show-cause notices for surrogate advertisements of banned tobacco products. They have 15 days to respond. While industry cites regulatory overreach, stricter disclosure and labelling serve consumer interests.
