NHS England plans to change how it evaluates the controversial Palantir data platform after staff highlighted flaws in the analysis.

इनके FOI emails show the health service intends to modify how it calculates two of its headline figures about the performance of the Federated Data Platform in the next quarterly update, more than a year after the data was first published. The changes will affect two of NHSE’s most widely cited claims: that hospitals using the FDP have delivered 110,000 additional operations and that they have registered a 15% reduction in discharge delays.

The FOI request revealed NHSE plans to overhaul part of its evaluation methods after an official raised concerns about the baseline used to judge the success of the FDP. An email on 28 May noted the baseline comparison “could be skewed by the pronounced seasonal pattern.” Charles Tallack, former NHSE head of operational research, said the request raises “serious questions about the analytical culture.”

The discharge data has already come under scrutiny after the FT identified errors in a key underlying dataset, and a Health Foundationrror found “no noticeable improvement” in discharge performance. MPs Ben Coleman and Martin Wrigley called for independent verification and questioned whether Palantir should be extended under its £330mn contract.
