Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), has moved quickly since his April appointment. He launched a premium Truth API feed charging $60,000-$100,000 monthly for high-speed access to posts from influential accounts, including President Donald Trump's, drawing criticism over potential conflicts of interest and SEC scrutiny. McGurn defends the service as standard industry practice, noting AI firms were already scraping data illegally.

The API launch boosted TMTG shares 15% in a month. Trump holds a 41% stake via a trust, with Donald Trump Jr. as trustee and board member. TMTG, which owns Truth Social, reported a $712.3mn net loss in 2025 on just $3.7mn revenue, largely due to crypto asset volatility. The company is also merging with nuclear fusion firm TAE Technologies and offers financial services via Truth.Fi.

Truth Social has roughly 261,000 daily active mobile users, down from 436,000 a year ago. McGurn aims to diversify beyond Trump's posts, targeting sports, lifestyle, AI, and prediction markets. He insists the business model will endure post-2028, saying Trump wants "a durable media business, long lasting, well beyond me."
