Iran Considers Strikes on US Bases in Europe

Iran has weighed attacking US military targets in Europe should Donald Trump escalate the conflict, according to regime insiders. Potential targets include Bulgaria’s Bezmer air base, which recently approved US refuelling operations, and Cyprus, where a British base was hit by a drone in March. Iranian forces have also examined striking subsea fibre‑optic cables in the Strait of Hormuz.

The threats reflect a defiant mood in Tehran, where Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei last week elevated hardliners to top security posts. Trump said there were “no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled” with Tehran, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned Iran would expand its target set beyond the Middle East in any full‑scale war.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates suspended trade with Iran after Tehran fired two ballistic missiles toward the Gulf state, and Washington expressed deep concern over an Israeli strike on a Syrian air base. In other developments, a Democratic socialist won Florida’s Senate primary, Trump paused new tariffs on Canada, Chinese robot maker Unitree’s shares surged over 600 %, creditors seized Hollywood supplier MBS Group, and Venezuela’s government did not raise demands for jailed former president Nicolás Maduro during opposition talks.
