San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has received a $13.3 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program. This federal funding will contribute to Phase 4 of the new terminal development, specifically supporting mass excavation, drilled piers, and design for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).

The new terminal is a central component of Elevate/SAT, a $2.5 billion expansion project aimed at enhancing connectivity, improving passenger experience, and fostering regional economic growth. The terminal will feature 17 new gates and over 850,000 square feet of space.

City Manager Erik Walsh stated the investment "strengthens our airport infrastructure, creates local jobs and ensures that SAT will continue to meet the growing needs of our city." The project is expected to generate approximately 16,000 jobs and a $2.8 billion economic impact.
