EdgeConneX seeks $2.5B for Meta's Ohio data center

EdgeConneX Inc., backed by EQT Infrastructure, is seeking $2.5 billion in bank guarantees to fund construction of a 1-gigawatt data center in New Albany, Ohio, for Meta Platforms. The project, named Prometheus, represents one of the largest single-site data center financing efforts, bundling facility construction with dedicated power assets into a single loan package. Banks including Natixis, MUFG, and Societe Generale began marketing the debt in early April 2026.

This financing structure reflects a shift in the data center industry, where securing power has become as critical as securing land. The integration of power assets into loan terms addresses rising electricity costs and grid connection delays. For Meta, the campus supports its AI infrastructure expansion, requiring massive compute capacity for large language models.

EdgeConneX has operated over 90 data centers globally since tripling capacity after EQT's 2020 acquisition. The Prometheus deal could establish a new template for bundling real estate and energy financing in hyperscale projects.
