Ankur Mehta is joining Citigroup Inc. as head of portfolio management in the treasury department, according to an internal memo. The newly created position comes after Mehta led the bank's securitized products and credit research divisions.

In this role, Mehta will oversee macroeconomic analysis, develop investment strategies, and advise senior leadership on portfolio positioning. Josh Scholl, the bank's head of asset liability management, wrote that Mehta will also provide guidance during critical market events.

Mehta's appointment reflects Citigroup's expanding focus on strategic treasury management amid volatile market conditions. His experience in securitized products positions him to navigate complex interest rate environments and credit volatility.

The move consolidates Citi's leadership team under Scholl's oversight, with Mehta reporting directly on portfolio strategy decisions that could influence multi-billion-dollar asset allocations.
