Veteran coach Dick Advocaat has extended his contract with Curaçao until the end of July 2027, the country's federation said on Wednesday. The 78-year-old coached at his third World Cup this summer, setting a record as the oldest coach in the tournament's 96-year history. He returned in May, three months after resigning citing a family health issue.

"Under Advocaat's leadership, Curaçao has made important strides on the international stage," the federation said, adding it chose "continuity and stability" by offering the extension. Curaçao played at their first World Cup but finished bottom of Group E after a 0-0 draw with Ecuador in June.

"We have achieved something special together, and I look forward to continuing to build on what we have accomplished with the players and staff," Advocaat said. He is set to announce his squad for upcoming Concacaf Nations League matches on Friday.
