The Athletics placed right-handed starter J. T. Ginn on the 15-day IL Saturday due to an elbow impingement in his pitching arm.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Jack Perkins was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas. Ginn last pitched Aug. 26. His next scheduled start was delayed due to fatigue/soreness.

Ginn (9-8), 27, has enjoyed a breakout campaign for the struggling A's. Over 138 1/3 innings and 24 starts, he has a 3.71 ERA with 121 strikeouts and 57 walks. Twice he flirted with no-hitters, including losing one in the ninth to the Angels in May.
