Injury Returns and Setbacks

The New York Yankees activated Aaron Judge on Monday night, clearing the way for the three-time AL MVP to return Tuesday against the Rockies after more than three weeks on the shelf. The Twins got Joe Ryan back for a start against Detroit, but the right-hander lasted just four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out seven in a loss. Milwaukee placed Grant Anderson on the 15-day IL with right biceps inflammation and recalled Brandon Sproat from Triple-A Nashville. The Dodgers again held Shohei Ohtani out for a fourth straight game Sunday night, though they expect their designated hitter back Monday against Cincinnati. Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo exited Sunday's game against Houston after a line drive struck his helmet.

Phillies left-hander Jesus Luzardo threw his first career shutout in 150 starts, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits in a 1-0 win over Atlanta. Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong hit his 40th homer of the season in a 10-3 loss to Miami, becoming the first Cub to reach that mark since 2005. Aroldis Chapman recorded his 400th save as the Red Sox completed a sweep of Baltimore, joining just eight other pitchers in MLB history. Ronald Acuña Jr. delivered a curtain call to booing Phillies fans after a tying three-run homer, and the Braves rallied late to win 5-4 and extend their NL East lead.

Brewers rookie Luis Lara made a spectacular leaping grab at the wall in right-center to help Milwaukee top the Cubs. The Orioles are offering complimentary tickets to fans in their "Bird Bath" section after a promotional mix-up involving Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers. Plate umpire Chris Guccione left Monday's game between the Orioles and Guardians after a foul tip hit his mask in the second inning. The Mariners called up Michael Arroyo for his MLB debut from Triple-A on Sunday, with the No. 4 prospect starting at second base against Oakland.
