Kohlberg portfolio company CLEAResult has announced the acquisition of Sacramento-based CHEERS (California Home Energy Efficiency Rating Services), the California Energy Commission-approved platform for energy code compliance registration in the state, along with its affiliate Con Sol. No financial terms were disclosed.

The deal adds CHEERS’ compliance registration platform and above-code certification programs, as well as Con Sol’s technical, training and policy expertise, to CLEAResult’s California portfolio. CHEERS supports compliance registration and workflow management for the design, installation and verification of buildings under California’s Title 24 energy code. It also manages training, certification and quality assurance for Energy Code Compliance (ECC) raters across the state.

In addition, it supports above-code certifications, including the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star, Indoor air PLUS and Water Sense programs and the Department of Energy’s Efficient New Homes program. Its customers include energy consultants, architects, builders, contractors and ECC raters. Con Sol is a California-based residential energy advisory firm providing training, technical and policy services.

CLEAResult is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and provides energy efficiency, energy transition and energy sustainability services. It describes itself as the largest such provider in North America, with nearly 3,000 employees in more than 60 cities across the US and Canada.
