Samsung Shuts Down Quick Measure, AR Doodle Apps

Samsung is alerting users it will shut down the Quick Measure and AR Doodle apps on December 31, 2026. The warnings appeared Sept 7 after Tarun Vats on X spotted the notifications. Samsung states that after the termination date, new downloads and update support will end, though existing downloads may still function with limited features.

Quick Measure, which works with Google's Wear OS, will lose support for new Wear OS versions. AR Doodle relies on standard Android/One UI updates. Samsung acknowledges "inconveniences" but vows it is "committed to returning with improved services in the future." It remains unclear if the apps will return upgraded or as new variations.

This follows Samsung's July shutdown of its Messages app, replaced by Google Messages. Android Central notes Quick Measure originated around 2021 with the Gear Fit 2 launch for heart rate checks, but its relevance has faded alongside advances in Samsung Health. Users with Android 11 and under were unaffected by the Messages shutdown.
