Google is rolling out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 to Pixel testers, focusing on fixing crashes and unexpected reboots. The update addresses a notable issue with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, where a third-party app caused an unexpected reboot when opening the camera's viewfinder. Additionally, a severe system kernel crash is fixed, which occurred when third-party apps requested simultaneous camera and microphone access during biometric verification.

This beta follows QPR2 Beta 5, released almost ten days ago, and comes after Google achieved Platform Stability. All devices are synced on build CP41.260831.007, with eligible phones ranging from Pixel 6a to the Pixel 10 series. Other fixes include a visual regression causing letterboxed content to leak through the status bar, a blank screensaver while charging, and issues with dismissing locked apps via swipe gestures.

A notable change is the temporary removal of blurred notifications on the lock screen. Mishaal Rahman clarified that the product team reverted the blur effect to fix bugs. Users have reported receiving Kernel 6.12 on devices like the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 7, and Pixel 9, noting improved fluidity. Additional Bluetooth fixes were included last week, continuing the final stretch toward a full release.
