The handheld maker Retroid Pocket has unexpectedly expanded its Duo lineup by introducing a new variant called the Duo Lite Plus, more than a week after launching orders for its Duo and Duo Lite earlier this month.

The company attributed the addition of the Duo Lite Plus to customer feedback, but many who already ordered the Duo Lite without knowing a more suitable model existed are upset. The Duo Lite Plus occupies the middle of the lineup, offering the slimmer dimensions of the Duo Lite but the more powerful Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 found in the pricier Duo model.

Retroid Pocket priced the Duo Lite Plus at $219 for preorders, with a $20 early bird discount bringing it to $199. Shipments are expected to start in mid-November. For customers feeling blindsided, the company is offering free exchanges, covering shipping costs for those who want to swap their Duo Lite for the new model.

Retroid Pocket sent an email stating it would pause Duo Lite shipments temporarily and give buyers the chance to compare devices, ensuring existing customers can choose what works best for them.
