FC Barcelona €300M Private Placement for Camp Nou Revamp

FC Barcelona is seeking investors for a €300 million private placement of debt to complete the long-delayed renovation of its Spotify Camp Nou stadium. The club is discussing the sale of investment-grade bonds across three tranches with maturities of up to 30 years, arranged by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. This financing is part of a €510 million package approved by delegate members to finish the project, cover cost overruns, and fund expansions like new VIP areas, a larger museum, and enhanced 5G connectivity. The placements are expected between October and November, following strong investor interest shown at a recent Investor Day.

The debt will help offset revenue losses from playing in smaller venues, including the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic, while construction continues. The club originally raised €1.45 billion for the Espai Barça project, aiming to boost capacity to 105,000. Additionally, members ratified €210 million in media notes backed by future broadcast revenue.

Lenders waived interest on original debt until 2026, but new notes are expected to carry higher rates due to rising interest costs.
