Thoma Bravo-backed BlueMatrix Acquires Aiera for AI Research Distribution

BlueMatrix, the capital markets publishing platform owned by Thoma Bravo, has agreed to acquire Aiera, an AI research platform designed to deliver financial research into institutional investors' AI systems. BlueMatrix already serves over 1,000 financial institutions and 7,000 analysts globally with research authoring and governed AI distribution. Aiera provides permissioned, auditable access to proprietary content including broker research, expert insights, transcripts, filings, live events, and news across the AI tools and internal systems used by institutions.

The acquisition aims to solve the growing challenge of how research flows into AI systems while preserving authorship, intellectual property rights, and entitlements. Currently, investment managers access governed research from multiple providers through disparate platforms. Combined, BlueMatrix and Aiera intend to offer a single standard for distributing research in the AI era. "Institutional investors are building AI capabilities at a rapid pace, and demand for research they can license into those systems has never been stronger," said Adam Solomon, partner at Thoma Bravo. "Our work with many of the world’s leading financial institutions gives us direct visibility into this need, and we see significant opportunity for the combined company to address it." BlueMatrix CEO David Nable stated the acquisition allows the company to extend AI distribution "on terms set by the provider, governed from the point of authoring through to the query." This deal marks the latest step in Thoma Bravo’s build-out of BlueMatrix, following its strategic growth investment in December 2023 and the January 2024 closing with Golub Capital providing debt financing.

By July 2024, BlueMatrix reported 74% year-on-year new revenue growth since the start of 2024 and added two senior hires to its leadership. In September 2025, it acquired RMS, a financial data aggregation and modelling tools provider, significantly expanding its presence in EMEA and Asia-Pacific. Aiera was developed in collaboration with buy-side and sell-side institutions and is backed by ten global research providers, with Fin Capital and Flybridge Capital Partners as lead investors.

Aiera’s CEO Ken Sena said the combination would allow the company to take its vision "to an entirely new scale." The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
