Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board said late Tuesday that speed brakes and thrust reversers on an Amazon Air Boeing 767 were not deployed before the plane crashed in Miami over the weekend. The aircraft careened off a runway and struck nearby vehicles. Lead investigator Chihoon Shin stated that data from one of the plane’s black boxes showed no evidence the speed brakes—panels that create aerodynamic drag—or thrust reversers, which redirect air to reduce speed during landing, were activated.

The NTSB continues to examine the cause of the incident involving the Amazon Air flight. No further details about pilot actions or mechanical failure were disclosed at the briefing. The crash occurred during landing approach at Miami International Airport.

Amazon Air operates cargo flights under contract for Amazon. The investigation remains active as officials review flight data and cockpit recordings.
