Rubies Unleashed Offers Curated Space for Indie Creators

Rubies Unleashed, a new indie marketplace from Nigerian startup Tkprobix, is taking a stand against algorithm-heavy platforms like itch.io. Launched in January 2026, it emphasizes curation, security, and creator empowerment over scale. The platform is the successor to RubyApks, a simpler Blogger-based site that was quietly discontinued.

Unlike open-upload platforms, Rubies Unleashed features a tightly selected catalog of experimental and creative projects. Each entry is manually verified for malware and quality, addressing trust issues common in indie downloads. Developer accounts went live January 13, allowing creators to manage their projects directly. The initial lineup includes titles such as *The Pizza Knight Saves The Princess* and *The Professor AI*.

This approach speaks to a gap in the indie distribution ecosystem — visibility for underrepresented creators, especially from regions like Africa. While still small, the platform’s grassroots model could influence how niche digital marketplaces operate. Founder Daniel Oluwatunmibi, a Babcock University student, plans to integrate AI tools into future updates.

Tkprobix has a history of community-focused tools like PDFnBooks and Atmos Weathr. With Rubies Unleashed, it’s betting that passion and rigor can build a viable alternative to venture-backed giants.
