KKR has agreed to acquire Medicover India, the Indian hospital operations of Nasdaq Stockholm-listed Medicover AB, adding a scaled multi-specialty network to its healthcare portfolio.\n\nFounded in 2017, Medicover India has expanded rapidly to become one of the more sizeable multi-specialty operators in the country, with over 1,900 doctors and coverage of more than 80 clinical specialties. The business serves millions of patients annually and has established a footprint that gives KKR immediate density in some of India’s most dynamic healthcare markets.\n\nKKR’s healthcare franchise has now deployed more than $20bn globally across providers, medtech, and related services since 2004. India has become an increasingly important pillar of that platform, with the firm investing across delivery, medical technology, and services in the country over recent years.

Medicover India represents one of the largest single-asset healthcare investments KKR has made in the region.\n\n“Through our investment, we look to support Medicover India’s doctors and employees in enhancing the quality of care they deliver, broadening access to advanced healthcare services, and improving patient outcomes for the communities the platform serves across India,” said Akshay Tanna, Partner and Head of India Private Equity at KKR. The transaction is being positioned against the broader policy backdrop of India’s National Health Policy 2017, which set out a long-term framework for public and private investment in healthcare infrastructure, clinical technology, and access.
