Modern JavaScript relies on ES Modules (ESM), which are now the standard for both browsers and Node.js. The module system supports various import and export methods, including named and default exports, aliasing, namespace imports, and combined imports. For instance, named exports allow multiple values from a single file, while default exports are ideal for modules with one main feature.

Aliasing helps avoid naming conflicts, and namespace imports enable importing all exports as an object. Dynamic imports are another powerful feature, allowing modules to be loaded at runtime rather than at page load. This is crucial for code splitting, lazy loading, and performance optimization.
