Investcorp has rolled out an AI Investment Framework that will steer how the firm evaluates and pursues artificial intelligence opportunities across its private equity, real assets, and credit businesses. The move signals growing institutional recognition that AI represents a fundamental shift in global economics, not just another technology trend.

The Bahrain-based firm plans to target businesses that are mission-critical, data-rich, and operationally resilient - companies positioned to use AI as a lever for productivity and profitability. Rather than chase broad AI exposure, Investcorp emphasizes disciplined underwriting and risk management to navigate potential disruption to business models and capital structures.

Executive Chairman Mohammed Alardhi noted that private markets must apply AI with discipline and intent, while Vice Chairman and CIO Rishi Kapoor emphasized the framework serves as a lens for opportunity assessment and performance enhancement. Internally, the firm already uses AI tools for research acceleration, due diligence, investment committee processes, and portfolio monitoring.

Across portfolio companies, Investcorp is deploying targeted AI-enabled tools designed to boost operating performance. This systematic approach suggests institutional investors are moving beyond experimental AI investments toward structured integration across asset classes.
