Edmond de Rothschild Names Alain Krief Global CIO

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management has appointed Alain Krief as global chief investment officer, based in Paris and reporting to global chief executive Christophe Caspar. Krief brings over three decades of experience in fixed income and credit, having previously held similar roles at Oddo BHF Asset Management from 2012 to 2019, and served as global head of credit at BNP Paribas Asset Management. His earlier leadership roles include positions at Crédit Agricole Asset Management (now part of Amundi) and Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management.

Krief now leads a liquid investment platform of 82 professionals managing over €60bn across fixed income, listed equities, and multi-asset strategies. Concurrently, Charles Lilford joins as co-head of equities and senior portfolio manager on the firm’s Big Data strategy, effective 28 September, reporting to Krief. Lilford arrives after a decade at BlackRock, where he managed the BGF Sustainable Energy Fund and Future of Transport Fund, with expertise in power, energy, industrials, and technology.

He previously worked at Treïs Partners, Dresdner Kleinwort, and Fieldstone Private Capital Group. At Edmond de Rothschild, Lilford will co-lead the Big Data strategy with Xiadong Bao. The strategy, launched in 2015 and classified as Article 8 under the EU’s sustainable finance disclosure rules, manages €3.4bn and invests in companies at the heart of the data economy.

Edmond de Rothschild, wholly owned by the Rothschild family, spans private banking, asset management, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure. As of end-2025, the group managed over CHF 198bn ($247bn) with a solvency ratio of 19.1% and employed over 2,800 people across 35 locations.
