ConfDroid Puppet Modules Series Launch

The ConfDroid project is launching a new series spotlighting its custom Puppet modules published through the ConfDroid Forge. Each post will detail a module's purpose, design, and use, especially for environments using Foreman as an External Node Classifier. This follows the recent pilot introduction to the forge itself.

Author Grizzly Coda has used Puppet since 2010, building custom modules through every release from Puppet 3 to the current Puppet 8. The modules evolved alongside Red Hat-based systems, now targeting Rocky Linux 9 and other EL9 distributions for their modern features like systemd and SELinux.

These modules are built for specific, opinionated use cases rather than broad compatibility, aiming for leaner, more secure, and easier-to-maintain code. They prioritize an ENC-first approach for Foreman integration and avoid dependencies on end-of-life platforms like older CentOS or RHEL versions.
