Welsh Fire secured their fourth win in five matches in The Hundred men's competition, defeating Southern Brave by six wickets at Sophia Gardens. Chasing 116, Welsh Fire's pursuit was anchored by a composed half-century from Matt Short, who scored 60 not out off 41 balls. Despite losing captain Phil Salt early, a crucial 56-run partnership between Joe Root and Short laid the foundation for the victory.

Southern Brave had a difficult start after being put in to bat, losing their openers without scoring. Marcus Stoinis was their main contributor, scoring 55 off 39 balls, but the visitors struggled against the Fire bowlers, finishing on 115-8. Sam Cook was particularly effective, taking 3-14.

In the chase, despite losing Root, Rachin Ravindra, and Jordan Cox, Short remained steadfast. He reached his fifty with a six off Jofra Archer and, alongside Tom Kohler-Cadmore (23 not out), guided Welsh Fire to victory with five balls to spare.

This win puts Welsh Fire level on points with Trent Rockets at the top of the table, while Southern Brave remain fourth with two wins from six matches.
