Soren Waerenskjold surprised rivals with a long-range sprint to claim victory on the fastest-ever stage of the Tour de France. The 26-year-old Norwegian secured his maiden stage win, the second for Uno-X Mobility, on stage 11. The peloton's average speed of 50.9km per hour surpassed the previous record set in 1999.

While a sprint finish was anticipated on the flat route from Vichy to Nevers, Waerenskjold launched a decisive move with 400 meters remaining. After Cees Bol initiated the sprint, Waerenskjold found a gap and surged ahead. Despite pursuits from Olav Kooij and Jasper Philipsen, Waerenskjold held on for the win.

Philipsen was later relegated, promoting Milan Fretin to third place. Waerenskjold expressed his elation, calling it his biggest win to date and a significant surprise. Meanwhile, Tadej Pogacar maintained his overall lead, ahead of Jonas Vingegaard by three minutes and 36 seconds.
