Ukraine's Maksym Murashkovskyi shocked the Paralympic world by crediting ChatGPT for his biathlon silver medal at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics. The 25-year-old vision-impaired athlete revealed he had used the AI tool for six months as a training partner, psychologist, and tactical advisor.

Murashkovskyi finished second in the men's individual event behind China's Dang Hesong, having already placed seventh in Saturday's sprint. The Ukrainian athlete explained that ChatGPT provided half his training plan and motivation, though he emphasized it supplemented rather than replaced traditional coaching under Vitaliy Trush.

This unconventional approach comes as Ukraine dominates the Para-biathlon events, winning all 10 of their medals including three golds. While Murashkovskyi believes AI won't fully replace human coaches for five to 10 years, he predicts part of coaching will inevitably shift to technology. The World Championship bronze medalist and multiple World Cup medallist says without ChatGPT, he would have stuck to classical human-led training.
