Eighteen-year-old Glamorgan bowler Tom Norton made an extraordinary County Championship debut, recording a record-breaking hat-trick against Somerset. The teenager ripped through Somerset's top order with three successive balls, dismissing James Rew, Tom Lammonby, and Archie Vaughan. Norton finished with figures of 4-61 as Somerset collapsed to 157 all out after amassing 354 in their first innings.

Norton's achievement made history as the youngest player to record a first-class hat-trick for Glamorgan and the youngest on record to achieve the feat on debut. His performance helped Glamorgan secure a historic first home win in Division One, chasing down the target of 285-8. The last player to achieve a Championship debut hat-trick was in 1906.

The teenager has been working on his fitness for years and spent part of last winter playing club cricket in Australia. Coach Richard Dawson praised Norton's strong, repeatable action and maturity, while teammate Timm van der Gugten noted his big pre-season improvements. Despite being told he has the build of a rugby player, Norton has always focused on cricket with dreams of reaching the highest level.
