Republic of Ireland rider James Walsh has died following a crash during the Tandragee 100 motorcycle road race on Saturday. Walsh, from Cork, lost control in the Senior Support race where he had been competing after earlier winning the Junior Support event on the same day.

The race was immediately halted with a red flag as medics treated Walsh at the scene before transporting him by air ambulance to hospital. Despite medical efforts, the 32-year-old succumbed to his injuries, marking a tragic end to what had been a promising day of racing for the experienced competitor.

Tandragee 100 organizers confirmed Walsh's death with profound sadness, noting he was the first fatality at their event since Dario Cecconi's 2017 crash. This incident represents the second road racing death in Northern Ireland this year, following Kamil Holan's fatal crash at the North West 200 in May, and comes shortly after Daniel Ingham's Isle of Man TT qualifying accident in June.

The North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club expressed heartbreak over losing a valued community member, extending condolences to Walsh's partner Claire and mother Geraldine. Road racing's inherent dangers have once again claimed a life, leaving the motorsport community mourning while questions arise about safety measures at these historic events.
