A rider has died following an accident during Superbike qualifying at the North West 200 international road race. The incident occurred at Station Corner on Thursday, prompting officials to immediately red flag the session. Emergency services attended but the rider succumbed to his injuries. The family has requested the rider not be named at this time.

The Coleraine and District Motor Club, organisers of the event, confirmed the fatality and offered condolences to the family and team. They stated the family approved for the event to continue. This marks the first death at the North West 200 since Malachi Mitchell-Thomas was killed in a Supertwins race in 2016.

Superbike qualifying was the opening session of the day, and all afternoon sessions were cancelled. Qualifying has been rescheduled to Thursday night. Organisers have not confirmed whether Saturday's planned six races will be supplemented with additional events. The tragic incident marks the 20th rider to lose their life in the 97-year history of the North West 200, which takes place on 8.97 miles of closed public roads.
