Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming is reportedly the frontrunner to be appointed as the new England Test coach, following the recent dismissal of Brendon McCullum.

McCullum, who was sacked earlier this month due to a series of poor results and off-field controversies, will continue to lead England's white-ball teams. Former England coach Andy Flower has withdrawn his candidacy for the Test coaching position.

Fleming, 53, has emerged as the primary choice to replace McCullum, his former international colleague. If appointed, Fleming will collaborate with director of men's cricket Rob Key and national selector Marcus North on selecting a new Test captain. This decision follows the unexpected retirement of Ben Stokes from international cricket.
