Spanish cyclist Jaume Guardeno remains in intensive care after a serious collision with a vehicle during a training ride on Tuesday. The 23-year-old, who rides for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, was airlifted to Tauli Hospital in Sabadell following the accident that left him with serious injuries requiring further medical evaluation.

Guardeno, who finished 29th in the Tour of Catalonia last week and 14th in last year's Vuelta a Espana, reportedly lost control when he hit a rock before colliding with a car. The accident resulted in a head injury, requiring immediate medical attention and placement in the intensive care unit where he awaits further evaluation.

The promising young cyclist was in contention to make his Tour de France debut this year. His team released a statement expressing support and wishing him a "speedy and full recovery" as medical professionals continue to assess his condition following the training accident that has cut short his preparation for the upcoming season.
