Solheim Cup 2026: Wildcard Picks for Europe

Britain’s Mimi Rhodes and Ireland’s Leona Maguire have earned wildcard spots on Europe’s Solheim Cup squad for the 2026 match in the Netherlands. Captain Anna Nordqvist chose Maguire despite a dip in form—she’s fallen to 79 in the world rankings after missing four cuts in her last six events, including the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes. Yet her Solheim record remains stellar, with eight wins, one half and only three defeats in 12 matches, and she poured in a top‑10 at the recent Scottish Open.

Rhodes, a 24‑year‑old former Curtis Cup star, is making her professional debut on the team. She’s already won three Ladies European Tour titles and impressed Nordqvist with a 92nd‑ranked form that included a tied‑ σχέ 51st finish at the Scottish Open. The captain praised her matchplay experience and competitive spirit.

Alongside them are two other rookies: Spain’s Julia Lopez Ramirez and France’s Nasia Nadaud, both outside the world’s top 80. Europe will also field four other debutants—Charley Hull, Esther Henseleit, Maja Stark, and Linn Grant—along with seasoned players such as Celine Boutier and Carlota Ciganda. The U.S. side will be announced by skipper Angela Stanford on 24 August, with the event kicking off at Bernardus on 11 September.
