Leona Maguire has been named as one of Team Europe's captain's picks for the 2026 Solheim Cup, following Anna Nordqvist's addition of three rookies to her squad. The 31‑year‑old, who first made a splash as an unbeaten rookie in Europe's 2021 away win over Team USA, has appeared in the last three Cups. She has posted three LPGA Tour top‑10s this season but missed the cut in four majors, making her the highest‑ranked European not to qualify automatically.

Only Maguire carries prior Solheim experience among Nordqvist's selections, announced live on Sky Sports. The other picks are Spain's Julia Lopez Ramirez, France's Nastasia Nadaud and England's Mimi Rhodes. All four debutants will join established players like Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit to face Angela Stanford's Team USA at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, September 11‑13.

Nordqvist praised Maguire’s match‑play pedigree and expressed pride in the blend of seasoned and fearless newcomers. The team’s qualification campaign wrapped after the AIG Women’s Open, with automatic spots secured by the top LET points and world‑ranking players.

The 2026 Solheim Cup offers Europe a chance to regain the trophy in their home soil, with Sky Sports broadcasting all three days live.
