Frank Smith believes a dream fight at Hillsborough could become reality after upcoming unification clashes. The Matchroom chief noted that while nothing is guaranteed, the opportunity exists for a major night in his hometown.

Argenis Puello, 32, previously held the WBA title from 2022 to 2023 before capturing the WBC crown in 2024. His only loss came to Matias in July 2025, making his 26-fight professional record nearly flawless.

Smith acknowledged Puello's threat, stating, "He wants to do to me what I did to Matias but believe me, that's not going to happen." Fighting in his home town with local support gives Smith added motivation and fire.

Puello, speaking through a translator, expressed confidence in spoiling Smith's homecoming. "I don't see many weaknesses in him but it will be hugely satisfying to come here to his hometown to rip his belt," he said. "It will be really satisfying for me and a humiliation for him."

The media-only event concluded with both fighters exchanging handshakes, maintaining sportsmanlike conduct despite the heated pre-fight rhetoric.
