Four Scotland supporters from Bonnyrigg made the trip of a lifetime to Boston even more unforgettable by becoming what the Boston Red Sox believe to be the first UK winners of the club's 50/50 raffle. Peter and Paul Innes and John and Ross Henderson attended the Scotland Celebration night at Fenway Park on Saturday, the day after Steve Clarke's side defeated Haiti 1-0 in their opening World Cup match.

The group purchased a $40 raffle ticket together on Sunday while watching the Red Sox face the Texas Rangers. After repeatedly checking their numbers, they discovered they had won the $21,353.80 jackpot prize. Paul, who has followed Scotland home and away with his father for over a decade, described the moment as surreal, saying it had not fully sunk in yet.

Half of the winnings go to support the Red Sox Foundation, meaning the Scottish quartet received a cheque for $10,676.90 before Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Staff at the Red Sox organization cannot recall any previous winners from the United Kingdom and are struggling to find records of international winners.

The timing proved perfect for the Tartan Army, who marched to Fenway Park before witnessing their team's defeat to Texas Rangers - a result that made global headlines. John summed up the experience simply: "My best pal, his son, my son, amazing. What a trip we've had!"
