World number one Scottie Scheffler has booked a spot at the Renaissance Club for the Scottish Open, setting the stage for his Open title defence. The 29‑year‑old will compete alongside Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup from 9‑12 July.

Scheffler, who finished joint eighth last season, sees the links‑style course as the perfect run‑up to the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale the week after. He praised the tournament’s strong field and the enthusiasm of Scottish fans.

Last year’s Gotterup beat McIlroy by two strokes, while Scheffler lagged four behind. His return to the East Lothian venue marks his fifth appearance and underscores his commitment to defending the Open crown.

The Scottish Open will test Scheffler’s form ahead of the world‑premier event, offering a clear benchmark for his readiness to hold onto the top spot in the world rankings.
