World number one Scottie Scheffler has booked a spot at the Renaissance Club for the Scottish Open, setting the stage for his Open title defence. The 29‑year‑old will compete alongside Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup from 9‑12 July.

Scheffler, who finished joint eighth last season, sees the links‑style course as the perfect run‑up to the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale the week after. He praised the tournament’s strong field and the enthusiasm of Scottish fans.
