Sally Bolton will leave her post as chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club after this year's Wimbledon, ending a six-year run that began with her becoming the first female CEO in December 2019. She replaced Richard Lewis and steered Wimbledon through its Covid-disrupted return in 2021.

During her tenure, Bolton backed site expansion plans and oversaw the tournament's shift from a 13-day to a 14-day event in 2022, introducing play on its middle Sunday. Chair Deborah Jevans praised her for guiding the organization through a period of major change.

The AELTC has named financial director Richard Atkinson as interim chief executive while a permanent replacement is sought. Bolton's departure closes a chapter at one of tennis's most storied institutions.
